GOMU (Global Organization of Multi-Day Ultramarathoners) was founded in 2021 to keep records and organize prestigious championships for multi-day ultramarathoners. This 6-day World Championship was the first ever such event. Athletes from 17 countries participated which is very promising for the future of this niche discipline and GOMU itself.  The race was organized in Policoro, Italy, in a camping where athletes were placed in bungalows right on the course. Start was on 12th March at 3pm and finish time was on 18th at 3pm. Map of the camping and the course The first lesson I learned is that it is...

I absolutely love this race. Everything is set up for best performance. There are only 25 elite runners on the track. It is a standard 400m track, making it very accurate to track distance on your watch in track mode so you are not relying on checking the official splits every lap. The organizers give you a tent, table and chair. Cooler if you ask for it. They try to accommodate every request so that you can concentrate on your race and do your best. If you want to break a record or set a PR, this is the place...

Every triathlete's dream race is Kona. It is the original, "the one" and magical. Even just to qualify to be able to compete is a goal most amateur triathletes never achieve. In our age group (W45), you basically have to win a race to get a ticket. At least that was the case in 2021 when I qualified. Now with the new 2-day race format it will be easier for women to qualify which is great. I love it that more women can experience this race, a dream that was so hard to fulfil until this change. That is, because...

This race was absolutely brutal for me, unexpectedly so. It should have been a smooth sail. It should have been a joy run. It should have been everything that it wasn't. On paper it sounds very straight forward: I was the favourite going into the GOMU 48h World Championship on September 3-5 in Hainesport, NJ, USA based on previous bests, and I won it. In reality, it was the biggest fight I have ever had to fight in a race and for the most part, it didn't look like I would be able to make it. Pre-race with Canadian-American Trishul...

There were talks about the World Triathlon Long-Course World Championship being organized in Hungary for 2022 but they never got the financial support from the government that they were hoping for. I was definitely going to do this race if it was in Hungary. There was no announcement made up until May so I already gave up on it and planned my race schedule and then suddenly they announced a very strange race. The distance was going to be shorter than a 70.3 (1.9km / 1.2mi swim, 90km / 56mi bike and HM run, 21.1km / 13.1mi) which is normally...
